Works, Inc. Introduces the Latest in Commercial Credit Card Technology
New Works Payment Manager Release Offers Expanded Features & Integration Tools

Austin, Texas, January 11, 2005 -- Works, Inc., the leading provider of commercial credit card optimization solutions, announced today the release of a new version of its Payment Manager solution suite. This new release offers the clients of Works' bank distribution partners expanded features for the management of traditional commercial credit card programs as well as significant enhancements for those organizations using commercial credit cards as a key Accounts Payable payment tool.
The new release, Works Payment Manager 3.3, offers support for purchasing card programs, corporate travel and entertainment card programs, and the increasingly popular, ONE card solution. The release also allows for the support of multiple card programs (i.e., purchasing and corporate travel and entertainment) in a single application with combined page views and single sign-on functionality.
"The focus of this release is to provide organizations the ability to take their commercial credit card programs to the next level, clearly positioning card payments as a preferred payment method over check, ACH, and wire in all areas of their businesses," said Jerry Lester, Works' Chief Executive Officer.
The key new features of the application include:
  • Enhanced Active Card Integration (TM) (ACI) for Accounts Payable Integration: ACI allows organizations to seamlessly integrate card payments into their existing ERP or accounting system and their existing payment process, making cards a preferred payment mechanism even for large invoices. ACI ties directly into organizations' existing invoice-payment process; upon invoice approval in the accounting system, Works uses its Active Card Control (TM) (ACC) technology to dynamically fund the amount of the payment on a card, eliminating the traditional risk associated with high-dollar card payments. Works also sends a customized automated remittance advice to the vendor informing them of the payment, including the invoice information and any payment discrepancies to the invoice. Reconciliation is facilitated by Works intelligent auto-matching functionality.

  • Extended Supplier Management and Reporting: The application allows organizations to maintain a database of enhanced supplier information for all card transactions. Organizations can customize this data to include preferred-supplier and 1099 status, and can add custom vendor identification coding required for easy integration with the organization's ERP or accounting package. The new release allows for robust supplier reports, including Minority-Owned/Women-Owned business reporting, 1099 report, preferred-vendor compliance, and rollup reporting for consolidated tracking of expenditures across vendor branches or franchises.

  • Robust Electronic Expense Reporting: With the introduction of support for corporate travel and entertainment card programs, the new Works Payment Manager release offers traditional online expense reporting workflow as well as new unique features such as Expense Folders for greater ease and efficiency in expense report creation. These new features also leverage the existing robust approval routing features of Works Payment Manager.

  • New User Interface: The new release offers desktop-like power and feel, while remaining a true web-delivered application. This new user interface features optimized navigation and display technology streamline work processes for cardholders, administrators and accounting staff.
"We believe that Works Payment Manager 3.3 offers the banks that are distributing our solution the industry's most advanced solution for their client's management and optimization of commercial credit card programs especially in the area of Accounts Payable disbursements," said Duncan Van Dusen, Works Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "The new release positions these banks, Bank of America, Commerce Bank, INTRUST, PNC Bank, and SunTrust, to drive the revolution replacing paper check payments with electronic commercial card payments as corporate America's preferred payment method."
