AUSTIN, Texas, February 6, 2003 -- Works, Inc., provider of Works Payment Manager, today announced it has successfully earned Type II certification under Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70). The SAS 70 Type II Report documents and tests the operational and security controls of Payment Manager, Works' web-based electronic payment management solution that connects payment management automation with the global Visa payment network.
The independent certified public accounting firm of Ernst & Young performed the
SAS 70 audit in accordance with standards developed by the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
At Works, the SAS 70 Type II Report focuses on 3 major areas of control:
- Application Controls relating to user authentication, customer-defined financial and purchasing policy compliance, and customer transaction and information integrity
- General Controls relating to management oversight of systems, software development, and procedures for delivering the Payment Manager solution to customers
- Security Controls relating to accuracy and confidentiality as well as systems and physical security at Works
The Works solution is delivered through Visa member financial institutions.
These organizations require from their business partners a comprehensive
internal control environment and a strict level of compliance with those
controls. The SAS 70 certification, which began July 31, 2001 with Works
obtaining Type I certification, represents that Works' operations meet a
financial institution's demanding standards and gives them a high level of
confidence as they continue to deliver Works' solutions to their customers.
"Many companies require credible proof that an organization can deliver on its
promise of control, performance, and reliability," said Jerry Lester, CEO and
President of Works. "The SAS 70 audit is one of the most rigorous and
recognized forms of third-party validation and represents Works' total
commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and integrity."
