Works Releases Latest Version of Its Electronic Payment Solution and Announces a New Product Name
AUSTIN, Texas, December 18, 2002 -- Works, Inc. today announced the availability of version 2.1 of the Works electronic payment management solution, which helps companies minimize the number of checks they issue and settle payment transactions electronically through use of commercial credit cards. The Works solution leverages the global Visa® payment system and was created through an alliance between Works, Inc. and Visa U.S.A. Formerly known as Procisa, Works has changed the name to the Works Payment Manager to more accurately describe the product's capabilities.
Works Payment Manager eliminates the hassles and costs of checks, manual purchase approvals and paper-based record keeping through innovative, Web-based technology that connects payment management automation with the global Visa payment network. By supporting and automating an organization's payment policies and procedures without changing the way they do business, Works eliminates the process and policy barriers that often limit the use of commercial credit cards as a primary payment mechanism. Works Payment Manger is the only solution that allows organizations to instantly adjust the available credit on individual commercial cards based on the purchasers needs while adhering to internal purchasing policies. In addition, the Works solution provides managers online visibility into organizational spending as it occurs, giving them better information for planning and decision making.
New features of Works Payment Manager include:
  • More efficient card management: The new version supports multiple cards per cardholder for those users that require using more than one card intended for different purposes. Users also have the option of setting additional controls for card holder usage, such as limiting the number of transactions per day and supporting multiple default and custom merchant category groups.
  • Streamlined Accounting Processes: The solution now supports the ability to automatically match cardholder transactions to spending requests, decreasing the amount of manual matching required by the cardholder. Works Payment Manager also automates the selection of general ledger codes that increase accounting accuracy and decreases the amount of manual processing needed for each transaction.
  • New Online Reporting: Works Payment Manager now includes an online card program health report which offers information on program statistics such as annualized volume, average transaction size, average spend per card and more. In addition cardholder memo statements and corporate memo statements are now available online offering immediate visibility into monthly billing activity.
"Our latest release of Works Payment Manager is a direct reflection of the customer feedback we have received over the past year," said Bo Holland, vice president of marketing and product at Works, Inc. "Focusing on meeting the needs of our customers is helping them to expand their payment strategies and run more productive and profitable organizations." The new version is currently available through Visa financial institutions, PNC Bank and SunTrust Bank.
